What is the Windrush I Accelerator Limited Edition?
EDI have partnered with The University of the West Indies (The UWI) and Microsoft Embrace ERG to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Windrush arriving in the UK. Undergraduate students from The UWI Cave Hill Campus, Barbados and UK universities will have the opportunity to participate in a virtual work experience programme for 5 days based on a project created by Microsoft. Learn about Microsoft and our partner companies, work on a live business challenge and attend workshops delivered by Microsoft and our partners.
A great opportunity to network and gain valuable skills transferable to the workplace.
Date: Monday 26th June – 30th June 2023
Time: 8.30 – 1.30 pm AST (The UWI Students).
1.30pm – 6.30pm BST UK Students
Location: Virtual on Microsoft Teams
Target audience: Undergraduate / 2023 Graduates from Caribbean and African Heritage

Who is the Windrush I Accelerator open to?
- The I Accelerator will be open to students from Caribbean and African Heritage
- The project brief will utilise skills across various subjects including technology, business and humanities
- Undergraduate/ 2023 Graduates
How will the Windrush I Accelerator Limited Edition work?
- Each student will work in a team of 5 to develop a solution to the challenge presented
- Various workshops will be delivered by Microsoft and partner organisations throughout the week
- Students will develop a presentation to be delivered to senior managers from Microsoft and Shell on the final day of the work experience
- Students will also have the opportunity to build their professional network
